Germany Profile Evaluation for Indian Students

Find out where your degree really stands with German universities before you apply.

Good marks and a rejection letter can arrive in the same week. German universities don’t judge you by CGPA alone. They read your transcript subject by subject and compare it with what the programme expects. A Germany profile evaluation shows you that comparison before you apply, while there is still time to fix what is missing.

At Abroad Study Rover in Dilsukhnagar, Hyderabad, we review the academic profiles of Indian students aiming for Germany. You send your documents, we check them against German requirements, and you get an honest report. Your first review is a free profile evaluation, with no obligation to continue with us.

What Is a Profile Evaluation for Germany?

A profile evaluation for Germany is a detailed check of your academic record against German admission rules. It answers one question: given your degree, your grades and your documents, which programmes can you realistically apply to, and what is standing in your way?

Admissions offices look at the same things we do: your credits, your converted grade, how closely your bachelor’s matches the master’s, your language scores and the state of your paperwork.

Who Should Get a Germany Profile Evaluation?

You will get the most from a free profile evaluation if you:

  1. Hold a B.Tech, BSc or BCA and want an MS in Germany
  2. Have backlogs or a CGPA below 7 and need to know what is still possible
  3. Want to switch fields, for example from mechanical to data science
  4. Are considering an MBA and want to know whether your work experience is enough
  5. Have a 3-year bachelor’s degree and aren’t sure it will be accepted
  6. Have already been rejected and want to understand why

What We Check in Your Profile

1. ECTS credits

German master’s programmes list the subjects they expect you to have studied. A computer science programme may want a minimum number of credits in mathematics, programming and algorithms. If you are a few credits short in that core area, the application can fail whatever your CGPA is. We convert your subjects into ECTS and compare them with the programme requirements, so you know where you meet them and where you don’t.

2. Grade conversion

Germany’s scale runs the other way: 1.0 is the best grade and 4.0 is a pass. Universities convert Indian marks with the Modified Bavarian Formula:

German grade = 1 + 3 × (Max grade − Your grade) ÷ (Max grade − Minimum passing grade)

For a 7.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale, that comes to roughly 2.25 if the pass mark is 4.0, or 2.5 if it is 5.0. Small differences like this decide which universities are open to you. You can test your own numbers with our free German Grade Calculator.

3. Degree and course fit

Germany expects your master’s to follow logically from your bachelor’s. A civil engineering graduate who applies for data science will usually be turned down unless there is a clear bridge, such as relevant electives, projects or certifications. A good profile evaluation for Germany tells you early whether a switch is realistic and what it would take.

4. University recognition

Your own university’s standing matters too. We check how your institution is classified in anabin, the German database that many universities use when assessing foreign degrees. If your degree length is also a question, for example a 3-year bachelor’s, we flag it at this stage.

5. Language scores

English-taught programmes usually ask for IELTS or TOEFL, and IELTS 6.5 is a common requirement. Some programmes accept an MOI letter. German-taught programmes usually need B2 or higher.

6. Documents and APS readiness

APS certification, certified copies and university portal uploads all take time. APS alone can run to several weeks or more. Read our APS India guide for the current process, or check the official APS website for the latest rules. Some universities process applications through uni-assist, while others have their own portals.

How Our

Germany Profile Evaluation Works

Our Germany profile evaluation is simple for you, and most of the work happens on our side.

  1. Send your documents. Semester-wise transcripts, syllabus or curriculum copies, your degree or provisional certificate, IELTS/TOEFL scores or an MOI letter, your CV, and details of any backlogs. Upload them or send them on WhatsApp.
  2. We run the checks. Credits, grade conversion, degree fit, university recognition, language and documents, as described above.
  3. You get a written report. Within 3 to 5 working days of receiving your complete transcripts.
  4. We go through it on a call. We explain every finding in plain language and answer your questions.
  1. An ECTS credit map showing where you meet requirements and where you are short
  2. Your converted German grade
  3. Language and GRE or GMAT guidance for your target programmes
  4. A list of red flags in your profile, with a fix for each
  5. A suggested timeline based on your target intake

The free profile evaluation is a complete first review. If you’d like help with applications afterwards, we explain the scope and cost before you decide. No consultant can guarantee admission, because that decision belongs to the university. What we can do is make sure you know where you stand and what to fix.

Your Roadmap After the Profile Evaluation

Which Intake Should You Plan For?

If you are reading this in late 2026, you are most likely looking at the Summer 2027 or Winter 2027 intake. Deadlines vary by university. Many summer-semester deadlines fall between roughly November and January, so that window is short.

Book your free profile evaluation at least 8 to 9 months before your target intake, so APS, language tests and applications don’t pile up at the last minute. Always confirm exact dates on each university’s website and in the DAAD database.

FAQs on

Profile Evaluation for Germany

1. Is the Germany profile evaluation really free?

Yes. The first review and report are free. If you later want help with applications, blocked account or visa, we explain the scope and cost before you decide.

2. Can I study in Germany with a 6.5 CGPA?

Sometimes. Some universities of applied sciences accept students in this range, especially with relevant projects or work experience. It depends on the programme and your converted grade, and we can’t promise an outcome. A profile evaluation shows what is realistic.

3. Is a 3-year bachelor's degree valid for a master's in Germany?

It depends on the university and the programme. Many programmes expect 180 to 210 ECTS, and some ask for extra courses if you have a 3-year degree. We check this against the requirements for your target programmes.

4. Can I apply for an MBA in Germany without work experience?

Most MBA programmes ask for 1 to 3 years of experience. A few accept fresh graduates with a strong GMAT score. We tell you whether your profile fits.

5. How long does a profile evaluation for Germany take?

You get your report within 3 to 5 working days of sending your complete transcripts.

6. Do I need German for a Germany profile evaluation or the application?

No, not for English-taught programmes. A1 or A2 German still helps with daily life and part-time work.
