Why your grade doesn't translate directly
A 75% in an Indian university and a 75% in a Nigerian university don’t carry the same weight, since grading strictness, curve policies, and passing thresholds vary by country and even by institution. That’s why Germany doesn’t accept raw percentages. Instead, admissions teams recalculate your grade relative to your own university’s scale, using this formula:
German Grade = 1 + 3 × (Maximum Grade − Your Grade) / (Maximum Grade − Minimum Passing Grade)

Most Indian universities use either a percentage system or a 10-point CGPA scale, and both convert cleanly using the same formula above.
